Newport is a small village on the south side of the Tay parallel with Dundee. The school consists of a nursery for children in their preparatory school year and primary classes 1 through to seven for children aged five to 11. The new school opened in 1977 and is situated on the outskirts of the village, yet still being centrally situated for both East and West living pupils. The school enjoys large playing fields and playgrounds. Surrounded by splendid Oak and Beach trees. Newport has a massive indoor sports centre, which has inside, football, gymnastics and trampolining. There is a main building where there are changing rooms and a karate hall. Outside there are two football pitches and round the back is a Scout Hut. The school believes that art and design, drama, physical education and music are an essential part of a child's development and are a source of great satisfaction for them. .
